This is yet another query that we’ve been receiving from a large group of people. The number of social media tools and platforms is increasing as days pass by and it is important to find something that will direct you to your congregation and desired audiences. Hope this thread will help you out in making your social media decisions.
P.S. We’ve prepared an exhaustive list of FAQs that might be useful for Churches trying to go online with videos. You can find it here:
There are quite a few platforms that Churches can use for their communications. We recommend categorizing your communication needs into three;
Content Distribution Channels
For internal communications, we suggest you stick to Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Skype. These tools enable good quality discussions and also support most file formats such as .jpeg, .png, .pdf, .gif, .doc, .mp3 etc to share with each other. Facebook Messenger Interface
Any official announcements that need to be made can go out through the church’s official FB page and website. Nowadays there are also congregations who use Instagram posts and stories as a medium to send across announcements. As of January 2020, 35% of the Instagram users are aged between 25-34. You can also use this platform to reach out to your members as well as to the youth community.
Content can be distributed through various mediums like blogs, videos, or audio files. If you’re looking for some platforms to publish blogs then we recommend you use Medium. For audio content (we would like to pay more attention to podcasts) you can publish them on SoundCloud or on YouTube too. You can check out Elevation Church on SoundCloudhere.
If you’re producing videos, then we would like to recommend some video hosting platforms for publishing your videos as well.
Among these the best in our opinion is YouTube. It is a free tool accessible to majority of masses around the world. You can check out this thread to know more about what can be done on YouTube to distribute your videos.
If you’re interested in finding out more about video hosting platforms then I suggest you check out this enormous blog by Make a Website Hub too.
